Functional Neurology Functional Medicine & Functional Chiropractic

Doctor’s Nelsons have advanced training in neurological rehabilitation for varying disorders including, but not limited to delayed neurological development, Autism, ADHD, movement disorders, post-concussion, stroke rehabilitation, and balance/vertigo problems. They combine the above with functional medicine and chiropractic care for an overall encompassing look into your health to help overcome chronic health problems. – Functional Care for adding function to your life! This is done by first having a consultation in the office, or if you are out of town, over the phone. We go over your concerns for yourself or your loved one. At that time we may have had you fill out paperwork that reviews your history extensively so that no stone is left unturned. If we think we can help you we will recommend moving into a second appointment involving a comprehensive examination, consultation, review of findings, and proposal of a treatment plan.

Doctors

Dr. Alex

Dr. Alex was 19 when he sought out chiropractic to get help with his low back pain. After getting tremendous results, he became more and more curious about chiropractic. His chiropractor said that Dr. Alex should explore the profession.

With an interest in health and wellness, he was ready to move on from managing the grocery department of a grocery store. He quit his job and began working for the chiropractor. Then, he decided to attend Cleveland University for a chiropractic education.

An Interest in Neurology and Addressing Chronic Disease

Dr. Alex is passionate about continuing to learn. He studies topics such as functional neurology, ADHD, autism, chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, infertility, multiple sclerosis and more.

Our society is seeing an uptick in chronic diseases, which are getting more and more complex. Dr. Alex likes to focus on what he can do for people with these conditions when medicine isn’t always equipped to handle their case.

Dr. Alex is a Fellow on the Board of Childhood Developmental Disorders, a branch of the International Board of Functional Neurology. Additionally, he is studying for a diplomate in clinical nutrition and is a Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner®. With a talent for addressing neurological issues, he is certified in interactive metronome, a form of rehabilitation that works with the timing and coordination of your brain function. He is also a member of the International Association of Functional Neurology.

Dr. Lauren

Dr. Lauren’s career started when she was in her undergraduate years working for a local chiropractor in Edmond, Oklahoma. She fell in love with the profession, the results that her Doctor was achieving with her patients and was having a lot of fun at the same time.

Upon completing her bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Dr Lauren decided to attend Parker University for Chiropractic. While at Parker University, Dr. Lauren had the opportunity to intern at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK taking care of patients while they went on their cancer fighting journeys. Dr. Lauren has since then taken 200+ hours in developmental neurology, functional neurology, and more.

A natural with kids

After graduating Chiropractic School, Dr. Lauren started working with kids at local after-hours achievement centers where sensory/motor exercises are performed to help increase neurological function of children on The Spectrum ADHD, Dyslexia, and more. Getting kids to do particularly boring exercises for them is not fun but she found she was a natural and loved changing the lives of the kids she worked with!

What really drives them…

In 2014 Drs. Alex and Lauren gave birth to a baby girl named Harper Mitzie-Lou. She was born with a rare and lethal congenital defect called a diaphragmatic hernia. Harper wasn’t even 2 months when she passed. If she had made it home, the Doctors knew it would have taken an army of people to get any function out of her including advanced, outside-of-the-box functional neurological care to improve upon any daily functions. They understand some of the tough decisions that parents have to face when it comes to the health of their children. Thats why Drs. Nelsons want to be part of the solution to facilitate a higher quality of life in your child and family as a whole.
