How To Know If You Have a Concussion.

No two concussions are alike, and if you are one of the unfortunate people who have had several, your signs and symptoms from one to the other can be different, however, if you have symptoms from one prior and get another, chances are those will only get worse. Understanding how to knw if you have a concussion early on is a great way to stay ahead before your symptoms get worse.

Us humans are just not meant to hit our heads. God has given other animals such as the Woodpecker the ability to hit their head repeatedly, in fact, their tongue wraps around their brain to protect it when they are building their home!

What a lot of people think is you have to lose consciousness to have a concussion. And that is not the case. Early signs and symptoms of a concussion are light and sound sensitivity, headaches, neck, and back tension and pain, balance issues and Vertigo, fatigue, sleep disruption and even digestive system problems.

Late signs and symptoms can be all the same with personality and mood changes. And to top all that off, the even more severe health issues come on 5-20 years later (if not properly addressed). Research has shown that the chronic symptoms of concussion can move people towards having a whole host of cognitive issues, memory, fatigue, recurring dizziness and vertigo that causes the individual to be in bed, and more!

Long story short, if you hit your head and have any of the problems above, get checked out! At HML we run a thorough history and battery of tests to determine if you or your loved one did indeed have a concussion.
